SNYDER, Charles Joseph, 95 on Sun., Aug. 7, 2011. A 58 year resident of Hackensack, NJ, he relocated to Vermont in 2010 to reside at the Lodge at Otter Creek in Middlebury where his gentlemanly nature, grace and good humor won him many new friends among residents and staff. Born in Iron Mountain, MI to Frank and Anna (nee Macek). He was a graduate of Michigan State Univ. and Washington Univ. where he earned B.S. and M.S. degrees in Chemistry. A life member of the American Chemical Society, he was employed by Givaudan Corp., a world-wide flavor and fragrance manufacturer, for 40 years. Charles retired as Vice-President of Operations in 1981.
Survived by his son, Robert and wife Shelley of S. Burlington, VT, grandson David and wife Kelly and great-granddaughter Bethany of Sierra Vista, AZ and grandson Benjamin of Tempe, AZ. Predeceased by his wife Agnes Elena (nee Turro) in 1991; two brothers, Frank and Louis; and two sisters, Carrie Pipp and Irene Van DerAa.
A Mass was said at Holy Trinity RC Church, Hackensack. Cremation was private. Inurnment followed at Hackensack Cemetery.
